Chang with Node 9.1.0 and Cardano on Metamask

NMKR hosts Cardano Hackathon in Berlin

GM Frens,

What's Spotlight? Every week, we highlight the most interesting events happening around Cardano. We want to help you cut the clutter and find the alpha.

Cardano Node version 9.1.0 is now live. This critical update marks a significant step forward on the path toward the highly anticipated Chang hard fork, ushering in a new era of decentralized governance for Cardano. Meanwhile, NMKR has hosted the inaugural Cardano hackathon in Berlin this week. In other updates, the NuFi wallet is set to enable Cardano ($ADA) swap on Metamask wallet. Let’s deep dive into these developments:

Cardano’s Chang Hard Fork Update

Node 9.1.0: Paving the way for the Chang hard fork

While version 9.0.0 represented a major leap in preparation for the Chang hard fork, it lacked a key element: the Conway Genesis file. This file is the foundation for a successful hard fork on nodes running version 9.x. Although 9.0.0 incorporated all the necessary technical changes, its absence of the Conway Genesis file prevented a complete hard fork scenario.

Preprod and Mainnet Hard Forks: A Data-Driven Approach

Hard forks for both Preprod and Mainnet environments will be implemented once three critical mass indicators are met:

  • SPO Readiness (70-80%): This metric will be gauged through on-chain block header analysis.

  • Exchange Readiness (70-80%): The Cardano team will directly gather data from exchanges to determine their preparedness.

  • Dapp Readiness (70-80%): Intersect will be responsible for collecting data on Dapp readiness.

The Chang hard fork is closer than ever. We encourage all stakeholders to actively participate in the testing process, stay informed, and prepare for the exciting new era of decentralized governance on Cardano.

NuFi Wallet: Cardano’s Metamask Connector

NuFi to enable Cardano ($ADA) Swap on Metamask

Nufi Wallet is exploring the possibility of integrating Cardano with Metamask, a popular wallet with over 16 million users. This integration would unlock Cardano's potential to a vast new audience familiar with the Metamask interface. The NuFi team expects to go live with this integration this quarter.

Seamless Token Management with Metamask

This potential integration wouldn't just bring new users; it would also offer them a familiar way to manage Cardano tokens. Transactions would be confirmed within the Metamask interface, while tokens would be handled within a dedicated Cardano wallet widget within Metamask. Notably, this Cardano wallet within Metamask would be virtually created, eliminating the need for a separate setup or seed phrase. Read more here!
